A construction company doing work in Fort Rouge on Thursday found an old smoke mortar bomb.
The nine inch long cylinder with fins was found in the 900 block of Dudley Avenue shortly after 3 p.m.
Winnipeg police brought in the bomb unit, as well as the Canadian Military to examine the object. The immediate area was evacuated as a precaution while the investigation continued.
Its age and origin are unknown, and no injuries were reported.
