Winnipeg Police CrestA family of local business owners have made a $25,000 contribution to the WPS Endowment Fund.

Moe and Munther Zeid, owners of FoodFare, presented the large cheque to Winnipeg police Chief Devon Clunis at a news conference on Thursday.

The fund was established through the Winnipeg Foundation to enable programs that assist at-risk and underserved children, youths and their families, to apply for funds.

The Zeid family– who operate five locations of their franchise and employ 200 people — also plan to donate $10,000 annually to the fund.

The police service will begin accepting grant requests on January 1, 2015 until February 28, 2015, with grants being disturbed in April 2015 to successful recipients.
