A six-year member of the Manitoba RCMP has been charged with sexual exploitation after an intimate relationship with an underage girl he met while on duty.
The now 33-year-old met the girl in April 2014 and had a relationship with her until approximately August of that year.
Winnipeg police say the relationship was brought to their attention by RCMP and the Professional Standards Unit began an investigation.
The former officer, who resigned in May 2016, turned himself into police on Tuesday and was charged with sexual exploitation.
He was released on a promise to appear in court in October.
To protect the identity of the victim, the officer’s name isn’t being released.
