Manitoba RCMP caught up to an impaired suspect after he led them on a short chase on Monday and forced both himself and an officer’s cruiser into the ditch.
RCMP attempted to pull over the speeding vehicle at around 4:50 a.m. in the community of Treherne.
The vehicle fled and eventually hit the police car, landing both vehicles off the road. The suspect continued to flee and eventually reached a dead-end road and took off on foot. With the help of Genie, a police dog out of Brandon, the suspect was taken into custody.
Tyler Lucas Middleton, 28, from the RM of Grey, faces several charges, including impaired driving, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, and assaulting an officer with a weapon. He was scheduled to appear in Portage la Prairie court on Wednesday.
