Body of Missing Winnipeg Swimmer Recovered Near Pinawa Dam

The body of an 18-year-old Winnipeg man who went missing while swimming on Monday has been recovered.

The man was swimming down the rapids in the Lee River at the Old Pinawa Dam site Monday evening when friends say he didn’t resurface.

Police and emergency crews conducted a search at the scene, but couldn’t immediately locate the man.

His body was discovered shortly after noon on Wednesday. Police say he wasn’t wearing a life jacket at the time.

An autopsy is scheduled and police continue to investigate.
