Manitoba RCMP are investigating a fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision that killed two people late Friday near The Pas.

Police say the crash happened around 11:50 p.m. on Highway 60, about 20 kilometres east of Highway 10. A 29-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, both from Chemawawin Cree Nation, were struck while walking along the highway and were pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP determined the pair had exited a vehicle that had pulled over and were walking eastbound with the vehicle following behind them. They were hit by a westbound vehicle driven by a 64-year-old man from The Pas.

Both vehicles remained at the scene and contacted police. No other injuries were reported, and investigators do not believe speed or alcohol were factors.

RCMP continue to investigate.
