A joint operation targeting sexual exploitation and human trafficking in Winnipeg has resulted in 32 arrests.

The coordinated enforcement effort, between Winnipeg police and Manitoba RCMP, was carried out from November 12-15 and focused on both street-level and online activity.

Police say 32 men, aged 18 to 75, were arrested for obtaining sexual services or communicating for that purpose. Fifteen vehicles were also seized under provincial legislation that allows impoundment for prostitution-related offences.

Officers also made contact with 25 people working in the sex trade to ensure their safety and offer support services.

All those charged were released on undertakings and will appear in court at later dates.
