Manitoba RCMP say human remains found near the shore of the Red River in the RM of St. Clements on Monday are archaeological in nature.
Selkirk RCMP responded to a report of the remains by the Lockport bridge at around 4:20 p.m. With the help of an anthropologist, the remains were determined to be ancient and were removed for repatriation.
Police say a smudging ceremony was held and First Nation’s leadership was consulted before they were removed.
