A woman is dead and another injured after a violent assault early Saturday at a condo complex in the 600 block of St. Anne’s Road.

Police arrived around 1:15 a.m. to find two women with serious upper-body injuries. Nicole Micheline Fortier, 46, was taken to hospital in critical condition and later died. A 27-year-old woman was transported in unstable condition, later upgraded to stable.

Officers located a suspect nearby in the 500 block of St. Anne’s Road with the help of Air 1 and a police canine.

Sonny Besskkaystare, 21, has been charged with second-degree murder and aggravated assault. He remains in custody.

Police say Fortier and the accused were previously in a relationship. Investigators determined the second victim was randomly attacked before the suspect fled.
