Cormac and Nicole Foster will represent the city on the reality show, which dishes out challenges to teams in a race against time to complete them.

An undercooked blue steak was the downfall of Winnipeg journalist Mike Green on Monday night’s “MasterChef Canada” episode.

Green was the 12th contestant to be sent home after his culinary creation just couldn’t resonate with the judges.

Green was put through a pressure test with two other competitors, where they were challenged to cook a perfect medium-rare streak frites and béarnaise sauce.

The Kenora-born competitor said one of the pitfalls was cooking at such a high heat due to the tight time restrictions.

Casting details for Canadians wanting to compete in the second season of “The Amazing Race Canada” have been revealed.

The reality TV show is looking for dynamic and enthusiastic teams of two who possess a strong personal connection. They must be articulate, competitive, interesting, outgoing, and adventurous. Teams will get the opportunity to participate in detours, roadblocks, U-turns, and other challenges as they endure approximately 28 days of “The Race” in various conditions, environments, and climates.

Last season, the race took competitors across the country, but the application for the second year hints at going beyond Canada’s borders by ensuring applicants have a valid passport.

A father and son duo from Winnipeg are the first winners of “The Amazing Race Canada.”

Tim Hague Sr. and Tim Hague Jr. picked up $250,000 and two 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingrays Monday night during the finale episode on CTV. Air Canada will also fly them first-class anywhere the airline goes for an entire year.

Tim Sr., 48, suffers from Parkinson’s disease, but overcame extreme adversity in the 21-day, cross-Canada challenge, which pitted the Hagues against some very stiff competition, including fit “BodyBreak” couple Hal Johnson and Joanne McLeod.

Bell Media Launching ‘Toy Mountain’ Christmas Campaign

Bell Media has combined its Winnipeg TV and radio entities this year to form the first annual Toy Mountain campaign.

Formerly known as the “Christmas Miracle,” the campaign launches today to collect toys and cash donations to be delivered to children in need this Christmas. And why not? The big day is exactly five months away.

Toy Mountain supports the local charitable efforts of the Salvation Army and Christmas Cheer Board, and will launch at the Winnipeg Goldeyes game at noon. New, unwrapped toy donations will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Participating stations include CTV Winnipeg, 99.9 BOB FM, 103.1 Virgin Radio, and TSN 1290. Other communities benefitting from Toy Mountain campaigns are Toronto and Ottawa.

Local Father-Son Duo Competing on ‘Amazing Race Canada’

The Amazing Race CanadaA father-son duo from Winnipeg has made it on “The Amazing Race Canada” to compete in a cross-country dash for a half-a-million dollar grand prize.

Tim Hague Sr., 48, and Tim Hague Jr., 23, are the final pair in the nine teams to be announced.

How do the Hagues plan to win the race? “Have an amazingly fun time and see how far we can get, build each other up at all times,” the pair said in a release.

The team lists their motto as, “Just because you’ve been given a diagnosis does not mean the end of your life.”

The show will premiere with host and Manitoba Olympian, Jon Montgomery, on CTV July 15 and air Mondays at 8 p.m. CT.

CTV released casting details for “The Amazing Race Canada” on Thursday — a takeoff of the popular nine-time, Emmy award-winning CBS reality show.

Competitors will travel coast-to-coast through detours, roadblocks, and other challenges as they race around the country, enduring approximately 28 days in various conditions, environments, and climates within Canada.

Producers are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic teams of two who are articulate, competitive, interesting, outgoing, and adventurous, and who possess a strong personal connection.

Competitors must be at least 19-years-old by April 1, 2013 and must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.

CTV to Air ‘The Amazing Race Canada’

CTV to Air ‘The Amazing Race Canada’

Following a weekend of teasers, CTV announced late Sunday it would air “The Amazing Race Canada” in 2013.

The broadcaster and show host Phil Keoghan revealed the news during an episode of “The Amazing Race,” the popular nine-time, Emmy award-winning CBS reality show where contestants compete in a series of globe-trotting challenges.

The show will anchor the network’s summer schedule and include destinations from across Canada.

Casting information and other details about the show will be released in the coming months on CTV.ca/TheAmazingRaceCanada. Fans are encouraged to follow @AmazingRaceCDA on Twitter as well.

The Canadian format rights to the show have been licensed by CTV from Disney-ABC Domestic Television. Insight Productions will produce the series in Canada.

CTV currently airs the original series, now in its 21st season.
