Crampton’s Market Moving to Headingley After Manitoba Hydro Cuts Lease

Crampton’s Market is being forced to relocate from its south Winnipeg location beginning next season.

The local market at the southwest corner of Waverley Street and Bishop Grandin Boulevard has leased the land from Manitoba Hydro since 1997, but the Crown corporation has changed its policies and is no longer able to lease the space.

Disgruntled former customers of Adrenaline Adventures are venting their frustration on social media after the outdoor adventure park in Headingley abruptly closed last week.

Citing creditor debt, the wakeboard and snow tubing facility ceased operations on December 15. Its assets are now being managed by Lazer Grant Inc.

RCMP are looking for a man in his 20s who held up a financial institution in Starbuck, Manitoba on Monday.

The robbery happened at around 10:45 a.m. when a man approached a teller with a note demanding large bills. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Woman Seriously Injured in Weekend Crash on Roblin Boulevard

RCMP Logo VehicleA 25-year-old woman was seriously injured on Saturday after being trapped inside a vehicle that hit the ditch on Roblin Boulevard.

The crash happened at around 4:15 a.m. in the RM of Headingley.

The 24-year-old male driver exited the vehicle, but his passenger needed to be extricated. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries and is listed in stable condition. Both occupants were from Winnipeg.

RCMP were called to the scene at around 4:45 a.m. and found the vehicle in the south ditch on the Trans-Canada Highway just east of Gaol Road in the RM of Cartier.

The Manitoba Brain Injury Association and Manitoba Public Insurance are staging the event in Headingley on Thursday morning with law enforcement agencies.

An inmate who escaped from Headingley Correctional Centre west of Winnipeg on Tuesday night has been arrested in the city.

Levi Keegan Waldbilligh, 31, was located at Siloam Mission early Wednesday afternoon by patrolling officers.

RCMP say Waldbilligh had escaped last night at around 10:20 p.m. and was serving time for break and enter and robbery. His home community is Winnipeg.

Open House to Discuss CentrePort Extension

CentrePort CanadaWINNIPEG — An upcoming open house in July will invite Manitobans to share their views on the proposed extension CentrePort Canada Way.

The four-lane divided expressway would extend from the Perimeter Highway to the Trans-Canada Highway near St. Francois Xavier at PTH 26.

“The alignment options that are being studied now will lead to a more efficient route and greater traffic efficiency and public safety,” said Infrastructure and Transportation Minister Steve Ashton.

“More than 19,000 vehicles per day travel between the Headingley and St. Francois Xavier areas along the Trans-Canada Highway. This project will create a faster, safer alternative route and provide the trucking industry improved access to the inland port at CentrePort.”

Driver Killed in Stolen Vehicle Crash West of Winnipeg

Winnipeg Police CrestWhat began as a vehicle pursuit in Westwood Wednesday night ended with the driver succumbing to his injuries after crashing in Headingley.

Winnipeg police were called to the 700 block of Cavalier Drive just after 11 p.m. for a report of a suspicious vehicle used in a break and enter in the neighbouring block.

Police began pursuing the vehicle in the area of Portage Avenue and Moray Street, but later aborted near William Clement Parkway and Grant Avenue when Air 1 took over tracking the suspects.

The police helicopter tracked the vehicle heading west on Roblin Boulevard and then south on Wescana Street, where it crashed into the ditch in the RM of Headingley.

Two Winnipeg Women Injured in Headingley Crash

RCMP Crest LogoTwo drivers were taken to hospital Monday morning following a two-vehicle crash in the RM of Headingley.

RCMP say the crash happened at around 6 a.m. on Provincial Road 334 when a vehicle being driven by a 62-year-old Winnipeg woman collided head-on with another vehicle being driven by a 26-year-old Winnipeg woman.

Both drivers suffered non-life threatening injuries and were wearing their seatbelts.
