Last year’s ride was cut short due to inclement weather and high winds, putting an end to the second day of the tour.

Riders were to leave from Gimli today and head back to Stonewall, where they departed from on Saturday as part of the fundraising event.
“The safety of our cyclists are our top priority,” said Donna Boyd, MS Society president. “After consulting with route marshalls, our expert cyclists with our bike shops, and finally the RCMP, we have determined that the road is not safe for cyclists and that we cannot ensure their safety given the weather conditions.”
Around 700 cyclists will make a 170 km trek across Manitoba this weekend for the 25th anniversary of the Biking to the Viking MS Bike Tour.
Supporting the cause in ending multiple sclerosis, the ride will depart Saturday from the Veterans Memorial Sports Complex in Stonewall. From there, riders will head to Gimli after strolling through Balmoral, Teulon, Donnottar, and Sandy Hook.
They will stay overnight in Gimli before cycling back to Stonewall on Sunday morning to cross the finish line between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
People living in Stonewall now have access to a fibre-optic network for TV and Internet service.
